We offer the only sugaring certification course to be endorsed by CIDESCO International, the world standard for spa and beauty therapy.
An endorsement from CIDESCO means that they have reviewed the course and it meets their high standards of education. The course is also listed on their website as an eligible Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.
By choosing our programs, you are investing in better education and training.
We teach the hand positions methodology in our courses.
For context, there are two broadly known sugaring technique styles:
1. Sugaring with hand positions
2. Sugar-waxing
With the hand position methodology, you avoid the use of single-use items such as strips, strips and chemical wax removers that are involved in sugar-waxing.
By using the hand position techniques taught in our courses, practitioners will lower their environmental impact, while reducing the costs associated with the service.
While some practitioners perform sugaring services without this full list of supplies, we highly recommend these products in order to offer clients the best and most comfortable sugaring experience.
1) A single or double sugar warmer: Ideally digital with two slots for pastes: Soft and Medium.
2) One to three types of sugar pastes (depending on climate & location):
*Why? Different consistencies of pastes can be better suited for sensitive areas and/or hair types. A medium paste can be a great starter product, however.
3) Pre-Sugar Cleanse: Used to cleanse and prepare the skin, before and after treatment.
4) Drying Powder: Whicks up any excess moisture (i.e. sweat) that impairs the effectiveness of sugaring.
5) Body Tonic (optional): An antiseptic spray to sterilize the skin.
6) After-Sugar Lotion: A post-sugaring moisturizer formulated to soothe. For use on all body areas (after hair removal).
7) Soothing Oil (optional): A lightweight moisturizer for use on sensitive areas/skin such as bikini, face, and underarms.
8) Nitrile gloves: For hygiene purposes. High-quality gloves are recommended to prevent breakage during treatment.
9) Popsicle stick/ spatula (optional): As a backup in case more paste is needed for learning purposes, or for special blending purposes.
10) A treatment bed or flat surface to practice on: To perform your service.

The amount of time it takes to complete a course depends on your level of commitment.
You can find the estimated total time commitment (duration) on each course page.
We grant you unlimited access to the course for a period of six months.
After this period you will continue to retain your access to the "Student Resource Library".
The certificate issued will be in the name of the account holder. For this reason, purchases are for individual use only.
However, spa owners can purchase courses for staff by visiting our "Group Rates" pricing page.
We accept credit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and a variety of other payment options.
Sugaring Certification:
Expert Brazilians and Mastering Manzilians:
Theory test only (15 min): Made from the non-graded quizzes. Multiple retry attempts are allowed.
*Given the nature and privacy of intimate hair removal we do not do technique testing for these areas.
Other notes regarding tests:
In order to help you provide top-notch service, we will review your technique. We do this by requesting two to three-minute videos of yourself sugaring various body areas (upper lip, arms, armpits, legs, and bikini).
Our online educator will then review the footage and provide video feedback directly to you. If a correction is necessary, we may ask you to resubmit a video (you can be your own model as necessary).
Practicing the right technique is crucial. Why?
For example, bruising to the client can occur if too much pressure is applied. Improper form over a long period can result in a repetitive strain injury and limit your abilities to provide services in the future.
This is why choosing the right education provider is critical to your long-term success.
Yes. While it may be easier and more practical to sugar models, you can provide video footage of yourself sugaring your own body areas.
If possible, however, we encourage you to find models, which can be friends, family, or even prospective clients.
Keep in mind that this exercise can help you build your clientele, before even formally launching your business.
We provide a Model Waiver Form template, which can be used as additional protection while training.
You will automatically be issued your certificate upon successfully completing a course.
The PDF file provided can be saved to your device, or it can be accessed in the future by visiting "My Dashboard".
Sugaring Hair Removal: Theory & Technique:
Expert Brazilians and Mastering Manzilians:
Time will vary depending on the individual and experience.
Most of our sugaring educators and practitioners started out their careers in waxing. While waxing can be effective for some, we typically see longer-lasting results with sugaring.
Sugaring often produces better results, with a reduction in ingrown hairs. The reason is that the sugaring paste is removed in the hair's natural direction, similar to a tweezing motion. The result is less hair breakage and a cleaner extraction from the root.
Yes. While working at an established spa may provide a consistent flow of clientele, those who do not have a location may consider starting an at-home or mobile sugaring hair removal business.
We provide a crash course in marketing and also share social media resources, signage, and other materials to help get you and your new business started.
Sugaring requires skill and precision. With proper training, you will be able to provide a professional service, while having the capability to adapt to the nuances and differences between your clientele. Each individual has different sensitivities, needs, and considerations. Without knowing what to look out for, or the warning signs of a problematic condition, you could accidentally injure the client.
For the above reason, it is important to "start off on the right foot" by choosing a well-rounded and professional education program.
Incorrect techniques or incorrect information can result in injury to both yourself and the client.
For example:
In our courses, we provide you with the right information and cover the correct body positioning and techniques to help ensure you continue to provide a safe and effective service for the long term.
No. While ingredients between brands may be similar, the consistency is greatly impacted by a formula's process and measurements of each ingredient.
Fun fact, before partnering with CIDESCO to become an international education provider, we extensively tested multiple brands at various spas. What we discovered was that different brands produce different outcomes. Some were not consistent and did not produce the results we intended. With staff input, we ultimately decided to go with Tamara's Sugar.
Ideally, one to three types of professional-grade sugaring pastes.
Depending on your region and climate, you may not need all three types. For example, a tropical climate may not be suitable for a soft paste if a service is being performed outdoors or in a warmer room.
Types of sugaring pastes:
Soft or Ultra - Soft consistency for larger body areas, and custom blending. Effective for picking up vellus hair (aka "peach fuzz" or light hair).
Medium or Smooth - Medium consistency for all body areas. Glides on smoothly. A great paste for beginners and experts alike. Effective for terminal hair removal.
Firm or Strong - Firm consistency for warmer climates & custom blending. Strong enough to pull out the toughest hairs.
It doesn't have to be. With this innovative learning platform, you will learn all of the essentials through step-by-step video tutorials. Diagrams and user-friendly handouts are also included.
